19th October 2018

PRESENT;  Rebecca Hirst, Sue Scarborough, Helen Ganney, Andrea Campbell, Andrea Tyrell, Danni Fuller, Val and Steve Wattam, Nikki Palin,

Jane Impey.

APOLOGIES; Caroline Taylor, Jane Webster, Graham and Helen Hilder.

Lindum Committee send their sympathy to Graham whose father passed away on the 19th .

ROYALTIES; seemed to go well, even though Saturday was very wet and unpleasant.Thay was presented with a flower box by Lindum for her retirement from The Lindum Spirit.

Hemingby Straight; The wet theme continued here and 14 riders actually made it. They all seemed to ‘enjoy’ their ride.

Competitive Rides;  The committee decided that we would put forward 4 rides for 2019, as we are in need of a pared down year to find our feet.

1. Wootton, proposed date 17th March 2019. Organiser Sue Scarborough. The usual ride distances will be available. Quite possibly I will be looking for a steward to stay at the bridge crossing for the Risk Assessment.

2. Foxdales (Silk Willoughby). Organisers Val Wattam and Helen Hilder.

3. Auriols. Organiser, Sheila Ludlow.

4. Reevesby Park (Royalties). Organiser Thay Stephenson. A new exciting venue and routes for 2019.

Social Rides

We are working on a number of options and possibilities for social rides next year as well as some regular events. All the following dates are approximate.

Muckton, organiser Sue Scarborough. 14th April

Fulletby, 12th May.

Hemingby Straight, (September?)

Bardney, Wasps Nest, Claxby are others that may be possible.

It was suggested that a contact number for riders should be included in the ‘rider sheet’ for organisers of social rides.

Also, a cut-off time for riders that want to do the longer rides at events to set off from the venue.

Danni is going to look into the possibility of having a Lindum hot water heater or stove to enable hot drinks/soup to be available at social rides

Possibly around end of July/August. Possibly around the Market Rasen area.

A fun/training weekend with a barbeque for all. Encouraging members to move up to Pleasure rides with mock vetting practise and trot ups. Social rides included.

New member packs.

It was suggested that, to encourage every rider to help during the season, 2 ‘helps’ per year could be signed and stamped onto their ride card. They would then be given a free ride voucher.

Alternative venues are going to be explored for the BGM during January. A more central location in the Wragby area is prefered.

Membership incentives to be arranged.

A  tack stall is going to be advertised nearer the time. Cakes, biscuits, tea and coffee will be available.

It was suggested by Danni and agreed that 4 weekly meetings, at least during the next few months would be helpful to get ideas running.

It was also suggested by Danni that a pre ride meeting for all concerned with a ride would be very helpful.

Andrea has a menu for the meal which is to be put on the FB page and the Web. If we have the 2 course option we can take the price down to £20 for 40 diners. You can choose either a starter and main option or a main and sweet option.

The bookings will be available on the Lindum Group website shortly. (NOW!)

Helen Ganney is sourcing the rosettes and the special rosettes for the meal. Helen has asked for ride cards from members. This will be advertised on FB and the website. Members need to be encouraged to put in for ‘cumulative’ distance awards.

Helen also put forward that there should be a cumulative distance award rosette for 500km as this will be an encouragement for social riders who will find it very difficult to get to the 1000km award. They will be awarded retrospectively to horses that have gone over 500km in the last few years.

There will be a new ‘Macsen’ trophy for social riders this year.

Trophies can either be returned to Helen Ganney , Sue Scarborough or brought to the dinner. This is to be put on FB and website.

Andrea Campbell has a new possible caterer contact for Wootton.

Some contact details are needed for rides. venues/toilets etc. (Ask Thay?)

The next Lindum Group meeting is at The White Hart, Ludford. 16th November at 7.00 for 7.30 pm.

We are not sure whether food will be available. You may have to wait a little while for it!
